Justin Timberlake & Chris Stapleton – How Good Was This?

I have to admit. I’m not a huge fan of country.

I respect the genre but was raised in Seattle, so not too much exposure the music.

I do appreciate the old traditional country sound much more than the new stuff. I think artists like Luke Bryan kind of make a mockery out of country.

New country sounds like pop music with a twang. There is nothing wrong with pop, but country should be different in my opinion.

Here’s a bit of irony, Justin Timberlake is better at singing country than most of the “new country” music stars.

His performance with Chris Stapleton on Wednesday night at the CMA’s was fantastic.

Here’s the first song they performed together:

“Tennessee Whiskey”

Wow that is good! How smooth is Chris Stapleton’s voice? This is how country should sound!

Justin Timberlake is from Memphis, Tennessee…so it makes sense he would have an understanding of country.

This performance was fantastic.

But just when you thought this was as good as it gets, Stapleton and Timberlake perform “Drink You Away”.

This just got better and better as the performance went on. When they pan out to the audience, the expression on their faces tell it all. Everyone is blown away by this performance.

I an sort of bummed I didn’t watch the CMA’s live. Again…not a huge fan of country, but love these types of performances.
